I Still Believe:
"I Still Believe" by Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a classic of the genre, one that should be on any reading list for people who believe in peace, and in justice. The book is a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, who was assassinated in 1968, and it does a very good job of presenting his greatness as a leader, but also lays some blame on the American system and the nation itself. It is difficult to write about someone like Dr. Martin Luther King without getting bogged down in his politics, which at times were controversial. Some of his political views were extreme. But many were not; indeed, his politics were mostly moderate. I Still Believe follows the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, and his vision, as he worked through what we believe today to be true about America and the world, from civil rights to social justice, and from a deeply religious background to a secular one. This isn't the type of book you'll find with a lot of historical figures, and this is no exception. But it is still an important one, as there are very few books about this time and era that can really do justice to the man's legacy. I Still Believe is a must-read for those who believe that Dr. King, and the civil rights movement he helped to inspire, were the very best they could be. However, it also should be read by those who do not. Because what this book has to say about the American government and how its system works can make you think about it for a very long time, so that you can decide if you still believe what the author believes, or if you believe he might be right all along. For anyone who knows anything about the American political scene, then I'm sure you'll appreciate this book, which covers all the major events in Dr. King's career, and how they relate to the larger picture of the United States. For those who are still unaware, let me start by saying that the Civil Rights Movement was a very complex and long process, and it ended up changing American society, not just the lives of its participants. If you are interested in learning more about the movement, then this book is highly recommended for you. If you are not, I'd recommend that you go ahead and read it anyway, because I'd feel better about the subject matter by having this information at my fingertips. than if you only knew this one little bit about civil rights history, and civil rights issues back in 1965. In summary, I Still Believe by Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a great book to read and to re-read, because it does a great job at explaining what Dr. King meant to the world at large, and what impact he had on the American culture and civilization. It is a great book to look back on in the future to see how far his ideas and ideals have evolved. If you're looking for a great book to read and to think about, this is definitely a good choice.
